According to the World Gold Council:

• 18K gold is made of 75% pure gold, 15% silver, and 10% copper.

• 14K gold is only 58% pure gold, contains 30% silver, and 12% copper.

• Having a higher gold content makes 18K a purer metal. The purer the metal, the lower the chance for any type of allergic skin reaction.
