Why we prefer to work in 18K gold
Why we prefer to work in 18K gold
We all have standards for our behavior, know what limits we accept in other's behaviors, and hold values to guide our decision-making. It's typically never a good thing when we drop below our standards. You know what I mean? And, it's typically an awful thing when double-standards are imposed on us.
At Kristy Ford, we hold ourselves to the highest standard in design-work and craftspersonship because we value doing a job we are proud of and using materials that are the "gold-standard." Case in point - we are only using 18K royal yellow gold for our collections. Why is this important, you might ask?
According to the World Gold Council:
18K gold is made of 75% pure gold, 15% silver, and 10% copper.
14K gold is only 58% pure gold, contains 30% silver, and 12% copper.
Having a higher gold content makes 18K a purer metal. The purer the metal, the lower the chance for any type of allergic skin reaction.
For Kristy Ford, 18K royal yellow gold strikes an ideal balance between purity of metal and durability. In terms of the environment, staying consistent with 18K gold allows us to refine and recycle more efficiently.
